Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that the assassination of his father and former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was the “single biggest learning experience” of his life, asserting that he cannot get away from the fact that the event also made him learn things that he would have never learnt otherwise.
It was on the fateful day on 21 May 1991, he was assassinated leaving millions of people across the length and breadth of India stunned and shocked. On the eve of his funeral when the whole nation was mourning the death of India’s greatest hope, Rahul Gandhi’s Metro editor had called him into his chamber to inform that he had to cover the funeral procession and last rites of Rajiv Gandhi.
