Shabana Azmi will share the screen with Zeenat Aman in Faraz Arif Ansari’s Bun Tikki. In an interview with Hindustan Times about this much-anticipated reunion, Shabana Azmi remarked, “Although I haven’t been very close to Zeenat over the years, she has always been extremely polite and supportive. I recall when we first worked together in Ishk Ishk Ishk (1974), Zarina Wahab and I were complete newcomers, while Zeenat was already a major star. Despite her fame, she never acted superior and remained approachable on set. That’s a quality I still admire in her today.” The film also features Abhay Deol.
Manish Malhotra, who is producing the film, announced the news on Instagram last year with a heartfelt note. He wrote, “The great Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman—both of whom I’ve been a huge fan of ❤️—from their movies to their songs to their iconic styles 🤩. They are so different from each other, yet both have delivered unforgettable films and cinematic moments that we all cherish 🤩. It brings me immense joy that they are reuniting after decades for our second production under the passionate and intimate STAGE5 production. The film, titled Bun Tikki, is a sensitive project written and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari ❤️, and also stars the incredibly talented Abhay Deol ❤️. Shooting begins this month, and we are all so excited about this unique film—cast, crew, all of us.”
