Mumbai, January 19, 2025: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan sustained six stab wounds in a burglary attempt at his residence in Bandra West on the night of January 15-16. The incident occurred around 2:30 am, as confirmed by the actor’s public relations team. He is currently recuperating at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted on January 16.

Details of the Attack

A CCTV video released on Friday shows the suspect entering the building with a covered face and carrying a bag. According to the police, the actor was attacked during a break-in at his upscale residence. Maharashtra Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, clarified that the attack was not linked to any underworld gang, stating, “The detained suspect is not affiliated with any gang. This attack was not carried out by any known criminal network.”

The police are continuing their investigation and have recorded a statement from Kareena Kapoor, Khan’s wife.

Insurance Claim Leak Sparks Outrage

In a shocking development, Saif Ali Khan’s health insurance documents were leaked online on the microblogging platform May X. The documents revealed sensitive information about the actor’s insurance claim and medical condition.

Khan holds a health insurance policy with Niva Bupa and has filed a claim of ₹35.95 lakh for his medical treatment. According to the leaked documents, ₹25 lakh has already been sanctioned for cashless treatment. The details also include the actor’s member ID, diagnosis, type of hospital room, and anticipated discharge date of January 21, 2025.

The family initially requested ₹35.98 lakh for his treatment, and the leaked information disclosed that the actor is currently in a suite room at Lilavati Hospital, recovering from injuries described as an “injury in an unspecified body region.”

Statement from Niva Bupa

Niva Bupa Health Insurance released an official statement, confirming the claim approval and condemning the leak of sensitive information.

“The recent unfortunate incident with actor Saif Ali Khan is deeply concerning. We wish him a speedy and safe recovery. Mr. Khan is one of our policyholders. A cashless pre-authorisation request was sent to us upon his hospitalisation, and we have given an approval of an initial amount to start the treatment. Once we receive the final bills post-complete treatment, it will be settled as per policy terms and conditions. We stand with Mr. Khan and his family in this distressing time,” the statement read.

Social Media Reactions

The leak of Khan’s insurance documents has triggered debates on social media about the violation of privacy. While some users lauded the swift approval of the insurance claim, others questioned whether his celebrity status played a role in the quick processing.

Current Status

As of now, Saif Ali Khan is in stable condition and under the care of medical professionals at Lilavati Hospital. The police are working to identify any additional suspects involved in the break-in and attack.

Further updates on Khan’s recovery and the investigation are awaited.
