The last time India and Bangladesh went head-to-head in the T20 World Cup, it turned out to be a memorable encounter as Team India registered a 1-run victory over Bangladesh at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the 2016 edition of the tournament under the captaincy of legendary skipper MS Dhoni.
“Mujhe pata hai aapko khushi nahi hui hai ki India jeet gaya. Aapki awaz se, aapki tone se, aapki sawaal se aisa lag raha hai ki aapko khushi nahi aaye ki India jeet gaya aaj. (I know that you are not happy that India has won today. Your voice, your tone, your question – all of these indicate you are not happy that India has won today.),” said Dhoni.
India did manage to reach the semi-final after beating Australia in the next match which was a virtual quarter-final at the PCA Stadium in Mohali with Virat Kohli producing one of the finest knocks of his career to take the team home. Eventual champions West Indies beat India in the semi-finals at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
