Mukesh Ambani’s “Pocket Change” Pre-Wedding Bash for Son Anant: A Billionaire’s Budget Celebration

In a surprising twist, India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani managed to keep the pre-wedding celebrations of his son, Anant Ambani, surprisingly modest – at least, by Ambani standards. According to insiders, the grand celebrations were completed with minimal expenses, despite the billionaire’s staggering $117 billion net worth, equivalent to a jaw-dropping ₹9,21,000 crore in Indian currency.

But before jumping to conclusions, let’s think from the Ambani perspective. With a fortune so vast that ₹1 crore might be equivalent to just ₹1 in our terms, managing costs becomes a relative game.

The Ambani Way of Spending

If Mukesh Ambani spent ₹54 to have global sensation Rihanna perform at the wedding, it’s just a drop in the ocean. With assets worth ₹9,21,000 crores, the occasional splurge is hardly noticeable. In fact, if he bought his wife a gift for ₹450, it wouldn’t even make a dent in the Ambani treasure chest.

The luxury doesn’t stop there. For instance, if his daughter received a lehenga worth ₹90 or his son was gifted a watch for ₹18, it’s still a fraction of the wealth he commands. Even the big stars of Bollywood, the three Khans, could have danced for a nominal ₹10-₹20, according to insider estimates. That’s hardly a significant drain on the Ambani empire.

The Reliance Connection

Reliance Industries alone earns Mukesh Ambani a staggering profit of ₹218 crores per day. With such earnings, even if he spent ₹1200 crores on the wedding – equivalent to just five days of profits – it’s still a minor expenditure in the grand scheme of things.

While most families might spend their life savings on weddings, the Ambanis managed to keep their celebration within the limits of just a few days’ worth of profits. In their world, this could easily be labeled a “budget” wedding.

For most people, Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding might still seem extravagant. But in the world of billionaires, where money takes on a different value, even grand celebrations can be classified as low-cost.
