In 2020, Siddharth had posted a video on Facebook where he spoke about his decision to quit alcohol.

Quitting alcohol is challenging. What is more challenging is the journey this decision unfolds. Siddharth Mallya, son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya, shared an emotional note about his journey of being “alcohol-free” for the last six years.

Sharing a picture of himself on Instagram, Siddharth wrote, “Today marks 6 years of no drinking. A reminder for anyone who needs it. YOU are the only one who knows what’s best for you. YOU are the only person you have to answer to. YOU are the only one who has the power to make the changes you want to make.”

A third user wrote, “Happy sober”. Reacting to his post, a few also shared their journey on giving up alcohol. “Myself 1 year 7 months..and counting more…. Started when I was 15 years old and stopped at 38. No regrets”.
